There are three types of funding – you are entitled to use any combination of them:

1. The “Feed in Tariff” (Energy Cash Back Scheme) – get paid for what you generate.

2. The “Renewable Heat Incentive”.

3. The Carbon Trust Loan – up to £20,000 at 0% interest paid back by energy you generate.

The “Feed-in tariff” or “Energy Cash Back Scheme”

From April 2010, farms who install solar electric systems will be paid a substantial rate for all of the electricity they generate.

The payments are guaranteed by law for 25 years and the payments will rise with inflation.

The Renewable Heat Incentive

A new government incentive called the “Renewable Heat Incentive” starts April 2011.

The incentive will be launched to meet the UK’s 2020 EU 15% renewable energy target for solar hot water systems.

Providing your system is installed by an MCS accredited company and was installed after the July 15th 2009 you will be able to claim this incentive.

The Renewable Heat Incentive tariffs are paid based on the volume of heat your system will output.

The Carbon Trust Loan

Up to £100,000 at 0% interest - The Carbon Trust offers interest free loans to small or medium sized businesses to help cover the cost of installing Solar Power. You can borrow from £3,000 to £100,000 - with the repayments based on the savings you stand to make by using less energy. You can borrow between £3,000 and £100,000 interest free at 0% interest.

Anticipated energy savings offset the loan repayments. So new equipment should pay for itself and you should continue to make savings year on year. The loans are government funded and unsecured. A straightforward and fast application process with no arrangement fees. You’ll receive a conditional offer within 24 hours of your application being processed. Loans can be repaid over a period of up to 4 years.
